SecureCare Technologies' Sfax

SecureCare Technologies, a health care information technology company, launched its flagship product, Sfax, a paperless electronic fax management service for health care providers. Sfax is a secure cloud-based Internet faxing application with digital signature capabilities. Users can harness the power of Sfax in four ways: desktop, web, mobile and integrated. The company's web-based version of Sfax gives users powerful, web-based faxing using any web browser to manage faxes securely and eliminate fax machines or non-compliant internet fax service. The Sfax Driver is a patent-pending virtual printer driver that enables users to easily and securely send faxes and digitally sign documents from any application. Sfax Mobile applications support multiple devices including iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and HP webOS. And users can automate faxing with Securecare's Sfax API, which enables them to rapidly integrate secure, fully compliant, cloud-based faxing directly into an application. The company can also provide a full set of custom solutions to precisely meet document exchange requirements.

Sfax provides an Electronic Fax Record (EFR) of the secure transfer of patient health information (PHI), a feature virtually nonexistent with manual faxing. The system is an easy-to-deploy, scaleable solution that turns faxing into a paperless operation by tracking, routing and storing electronic faxes on a HIPAA ready, Internet-based platform. Sfax can save healthcare organizations 95% of the time and 80% by automating fax processes.

Sfax is scalable to any size organization. It is designed not to require expensive IT resources. Set up and training can be done in 30 minutes or less. Users can import address books, create custom HIPAA fax cover pages and start Sfaxing immediately. Faxes can be sent from any computer that has Internet access. Incoming Sfaxes are stored on Sfax remote servers for 365 days and accessed via any Internet connection. Users can Sfax-back, re-route, store, or search all fax documents. Automatic fax notifications are sent via email. Sfax also practically eliminates junk faxes by routing faxes through individual toll-free numbers provided at no additional charge.

The company provides an Application Programming Interface (API) that works seamlessly with the varied applications, operating systems and development environments currently deployed by SecureCare's channel partners. Its Web Services tool provides a service-oriented distributed architecture for the interconnection of systems through TCP/IP networks which has been widely adopted for the integration of business applications.

SecureCare is proud of the fact that it protects the confidentiality and integrity of information being communicated using its Sfax services via a plethora of physical, organizational and technical measures including that SecureCare's fax production equipment is located at facilities that provide 24-hour physical security, redundant electrical generators, redundant data center air conditioners, and other backup equipment designed to keep servers secure and continually up and running. The network perimeter is protected by multiple firewalls and monitored by intrusion detection systems — all sourced from industry-leading security vendors. In addition, SecureCare monitors and analyzes firewall logs to proactively identify security threats. Inside of the perimeter of firewalls, systems are safeguarded by network address translation, port redirection, IP masquerading, nonroutable IP addressing schemes, and more. All data that is provided by a customer is owned by that customer. Also, SecureCare employees do not have direct access to the SecureCare production equipment, except where necessary for system management, maintenance, monitoring, and backups. SecureCare does not utilize any managed service providers. The SecureCare Operations team provides all system management, maintenance, monitoring, and backups. All networking components, SSL accelerators, load balancers, Web servers, and application servers are configured in a redundant configuration. All customer data is stored on a primary database server that is clustered with a backup database server for redundancy. All customer data is stored on disk storage that is mirrored across different storage cabinets and controllers. All customer data is automatically backed up to another disk array on a nightly basis which in itself is backed up to an external device. Disaster recovery plans are in place. The service is truly HIPAA-compliant.
